Mermaid Gin at 42% ABV is a refreshing, smooth and slightly sweet peppery gin with hints of citrus.

Mermaid Gin uses an infusion of carefully selected botanicals including Juniper Berries, rock samphire that is hand-picked from the Island’s chalk cliffs and Boadicea hops grown at the famous Ventnor Botanic Garden. Along with English coriander seeds, fresh lemon zest, angelica root, liquorish root, orris root, elderflower and grains of paradise.

We use hand-picked ingredients such as Rock Samphire from a secret location on the sunny south side of the Island. All the hops we use are grown on the Island too! We want our spirits to be not only fresh, but to capture the true island spirit! Our Coriander seeds are the first to be commercially grown in England.

Before distilling commences, our botanicals are steeped together for 24 hours to enable all the essential oils in the botanicals to be released. Following this, the spirit is then distilled for a day. The fresh Mermaid Gin is rested for seven days to allow the flavours and aromas to mellow and marry together.

I bought this gin at the bbc good food show and now I’m addicted! Perfect with a cold tonic and a slice of lime. Thank you to the Isle of Wight distillery for all your help at the show

Tried this at The Boathouse in Seaview and its so much nicer than the bog standard gins you are usually offered. A very fresh taste, I’m no expert but it didn’t have that chemical taste gin sometimes has. Bought a bottle to take home and it went down very well thank you! Back to the island tomorrow for a re-stock, will try the vodka and moonshine too. Hope you business goes from strength to strength.

First tried this in the anchor pub in cowes in October and not had any other kind of gin since!!!! It is beautiful with fresh orange and lemonade served over ice. Shame it’s winter bet it’s even more amazing sat in the sun. Only trouble being is I live in Manchester, which means a few more trips down to get some more.
